Levels of membership
We have three categories of membership at the CPVA: Certified, Associate, and Student. All members can participate in our meetings and take advantage of networking, training, and education opportunities.
Certified Members are technically proficient in all areas of video production (camera, lighting, sound, and editing), and have provided an example of work which meets the technical standards for professional video production as evaluated by our membership committee. They may use the CPVA logo for advertising and are listed in the CPVA directory.
Associate Members are members who either specialize in a specific aspect of video production (i.e., drone operators, voice actors, sound recordists, animators), or are members that don’t yet meet the full requirements for professional certification. Associate members may assist certified members as crew and benefit from mentorship and learning opportunities within the CPVA as they work towards becoming certified members. Associate members can’t advertise themselves as certified members or make use of the CPVA logo until they have achieved certified status.
Student Members may be enrolled in a post-secondary video program, are new to the trade, and actively learning. Student members may benefit from assisting certified members as crew and benefit from mentorship and learning opportunities within the CPVA as they increase their skills and experience. Student members can’t advertise themselves as certified members or make use of the CPVA logo until they have achieved certified status.
